Which iron supplement should you take to correct iron deficiency? A new study suggests that a dietary supplement made of Moringa oleifera leaves could be better than ferric citrate, one common iron supplement. In the study, iron deficiency was induced in rats after being fed an iron deficient diet for 10 weeks. After the depletion, rats received different sources of iron in combination with ascorbic acid (vitamin C).The study found Moringa oleifera leaves was a better iron supplement than ferric citrate in overcoming iron deficiency in the animals.Moringa oleifera is commonly used as a weight loss supplement.
