Rheumatoid arthritis is a disease of chronic joint inflammation and there is no cure for the condition.  A new study suggests that taking δ-tocotrienol, a vitamin E can effectively ameliorate collagen-induced arthritis.  For the study, rats with collagen induced arthritis were treated with δ-tocotrienol in a dose fo 10 mg/kg or glucosamine hydrochloride in a dose of 300 mg/kg for 25 days.  The vitamin E lowered paw edema, compared with glucosamine treatment.  The study concludes "Vitamin E delta-tocotrienol may be of therapeutic value against rheumatoid arthritis."
