It’s the final countdown.
Last week, the Senate Agriculture Committee passed a version of what we call the Deny Americans the Right to Know, or DARK, Act. This bill would block states from enacting GMO labeling laws and make it even harder for companies tovoluntarily label foods with genetically engineered ingredients.
Its next stop is the Senate floor – where it is expected to be introduced ANY DAY NOW. If it passes, the fight for GMO labeling is OVER. There will be no second chances.
Let me be frank: We simply don’t have the votes we need to win this fight. Not yet, at least. That’s where you come in.
We need to go all out these next few days to stop the DARK Act, but we need urgent financial resources. If you support GMO labeling, please make a donation right now.
Last year alone, Big Food companies spent more than $101 million lobbying against GMO labeling, and they’ll be pulling out all their resources to get the DARK Act passed over the next few days.
We’re up against the biggest players in the food industry – names you’d recognize, including Monsanto, Coca-Cola, and General Mills, and names you might not expect to see on the list, such as Ocean Spray Cranberries and the National Turkey Federation.
We’ll never have the kinds of resources that Big Food companies do, but what we have is so much more important: you. More than 600,000 of you have taken action against the DARK Act. Can we count on you for a donation today?
Thanks so much for your support.
