Dear Organic Consumer,
Please read this important message from the Farm Food Freedom Coalition and attend Vernon Herschberger's trial May 20-24 in Baraboo, Wis. or donate to his legal defense fund.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), encouraged by the FDA, is spending tens of thousands of dollars to deny the right of Wisconsin citizens to purchase raw milk products. One of their tactics is to prosecute peaceful farmers for selling raw milk and raw dairy products to individuals who want to purchase those products.
Join fellow food activists and farmers in attending Herschbergers' trial, May 20-24, at the Sauk County Courthouse, 515 Oak Street in Baraboo, Wis.
Herschberger is facing criminal charges including distributing milk from his "Grazin' Acres" dairy farm without a milk producer's license (Wisconsin doesn't issues license for raw milk producers), and violating a hold order placed on his dairy products after the state raided his farm.
While Herschberger is on trial in the courtroom, raw milk is on trial in the court of public opinion. If Herschberger is found guilty, not only could he go to prison for more than a year, but buying clubs across the country could be directly threatened.
In conjunction with the trial, the Farm Food Freedom Coalition will present “Grow Your Food Freedom” at the Al Ringling Theater across the street from the courthouse in Baraboo, Wis.Events include meals, nightly speakers, a film screening of Genetic Roulette and a book signing of Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Food with author David Gumpert. Farmers and food activists from around the country will attend and speak. More information at www.farmfoodfreedom.org.
