Teens lacking sleep more likely to suffer depression
A study in the journal Sleep of 15,659 adolescents found teens who regularly slept five hours or less were 71 percent more likely to suffer depression and 48 percent more likely to think of suicide. Researchers say teens need nine hours; participants averaged 7 hours 53 minutes.
