A randomized trial of 59 obstructive sleep apnea patients found three weeks of CPAP therapy significantly cut fatigue on two independent measures and raised energy, with mean Epworth Sleepiness Scale scores falling from 13.0 to 8.9. The study appeared in the journal Sleep.

Sleep Apnea Increases Heart Disease Risk
Researchers followed 1,927 men and 2,495 women aged 40 and over who had no heart disease at their baseline sleep study. After eight and a half years they concluded obstructive sleep apnea is associated with higher risk of heart failure in men; the coronary heart disease link was equivocal.

Obstructive sleep apnea may worsen diabetes
University of Chicago researchers studied 60 type 2 diabetes patients and found severe obstructive sleep apnea went with poor blood sugar control: mild, moderate and severe apnea came with HbA1C increases of 49, 93 and 269 percent. Which condition drives the other is unclear.
