Many Americans don’t realize this, but asbestos is everywhere – even in children’s toys!

Recent tests commissioned by EWG Action Fund and conducted by an independent, government-certified laboratory even found the deadly substance in four brands of crayons and two kids’ crime scene fingerprint kits.

Our Asbestos Nation campaign has shown that asbestos is responsible for up to 15,000 American deaths each year from asbestos-related diseases. No one should be exposed to this dangerous substance, especially not children who are most at risk for developing mesothelioma, a deadly lung disease caused by asbestos.

So what can you do to make sure that Americans are protected against asbestos and that victims get the justice they deserve?

• Check out EWG Action Fund’s Asbestos Nation map highlighting the deadly toll of asbestos across the country and share it with your friends and family.
• Sign EWG Action Fund's petition calling on retailers to stop selling and permanently remove products contaminated with asbestos.
• Urge your members of Congress to support the Reducing Exposure to Asbestos Database (READ) Act, which would create an online database to inform consumers about asbestos-containing products and where they might be located in communities across the country.
• Don’t let Congress get away with robbing asbestos victims of their rightful compensation. Click here to stand up for asbestos victims and tell your members of Congress to oppose the FACT Act!
