Drinking coffee may cut endometrial cancer risk
Je and Giovannucci pooled 16 studies covering 6,628 endometrial cancer cases and found the heaviest coffee drinkers were up to 29 percent less likely to develop the disease. Each additional cup a day corresponded to an 8 percent lower risk. The authors call for more large studies.
Food
Coffee may protect against endometrial cancer (updated)
Among 67,470 Nurses' Health Study participants followed 26 years, drinking four or more cups of coffee a day was tied to 25% lower endometrial cancer risk. Decaffeinated coffee showed a similar link. The study is observational and cannot prove cause.

Drinking coffee helps hepatitis C treatment
Among 885 hepatitis C patients treated with peginterferon and ribavirin, those drinking three or more cups of coffee a day had larger drops in viral load and were 80 percent more likely to sustain a virologic response than non-drinkers.

Coffee drinking linked to lower risk of skin cancer
Across 113,000 people followed more than 20 years, women drinking over three cups of coffee a day were 20% less likely to develop basal cell carcinoma and men 9% less. No link appeared for melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma, and the study cannot show cause.

Drinking coffee may cut stroke risk slightly
Susanna Larsson pooled 11 studies covering 478,700 people and about 10,000 strokes, finding those drinking two to six cups of coffee a day were roughly 13% less likely to have a stroke. At eight cups the reduction fell to 7%, and no trial shows cause.

Tea and coffee help fight superbug
Drawing on 2003-2004 NHANES data, Eric Matheson's team found adults who drank hot tea were 47% less likely to carry MRSA in the nose than non-drinkers, with a similar reduction among coffee drinkers. About 1.4% of the population carries MRSA in the nose.
